About the CILIP Carnegie & Kate Greenaway Awards and Shadowing Scheme. We have been very excited at Bushey Meads in anticipation of running a Carnegie Shadowing Group for the first time. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the time available for shadowing has been extended until October including the voting for the Shadowers' Choice Awards with the winners will be revealed during National Libraries Week on 9 October. The CILIP Carnegie Medal is awarded annually to a children’s book author whose writing creates an outstanding reading experience. The CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medals are the nation's oldest and best-loved children's book awards, awarded annually by youth librarians to books for children and young people that create outstanding reading experiences through writing and illustration.
The Shadowing Scheme is supported by reading resources from CLPE and the English and Media Centre and CILIP continues to work in partnership with RNIB and new partners Calibre Audio Library to produce the books in accessible formats.
